DOLLMAKING CAN BE HEALING….

Monday, May 18th, 2009 | Author: carol

I have joined a class on line that has to do with doll making and healing. This is a year long commitment and involves creating four dolls, The Guardian, Scapegoat, Talisman and Inner Healer, as well as Journal keeping. I have decided to record my journey here, so you may stop by and see how I’m doing, look under “Medicine Dolls”.  My teacher is Barb Kobe her website is barbkobe.com you will find more info and dolls there.

I would like to write the introduction that got me so excited to begin this  course.

“Dollmaking can help you to heal at a physical, emotional , mental and spiritual level. The process of making healing art is one that involves creating change so that you can become more conscious and restore your connection to your intuition and your soul. When you are physically ill, in pain, dealing with emotional issues, or challenged by a life changing event, you can start to heal yourself with art by opening up to your inner voices, listening to them and allowing their messages to emerge.”

This in not a free course, but one worth taking. It was perfect for me because of my interest in dolls and healing, and I am sure this will link well with the medicine wheel too. Here is one of her dolls…..

MOTHER’S DAY….

Monday, May 11th, 2009 | Author: carol

Happy Mother’s day to my children who are mother’s and to all my family and friends out there who are so blessed to have children. It began with  John and Missy picking  me up Saturday night to go out to dinner with Missy’s Mom. We went to Applebees and spent a really nice time  together, the rainy cool weather didn’t matter at all. What a surprise to jump into the car and find this beautiful flower arrangement waiting for me, as did Missy’s mom, along with the funniest card that left me laughing so much.  All their love and planning made for the best mother’s day ever!

Next morning, Sam made breakfast and it was Yummy! especially since I didn’t make it! pancakes served up with mother’s day cards, lots of hugs and kisses topped off with phone calls from my girls far away.  It was the best, I love you all!!!

The weather here has not been the best, really cool to cold at night. It makes it hard to work outdoors! but we have been doing our best planning on paper and hoping for a sunny day. We decided to keep the vegetable garden inside the medicine wheel above ground, square foot garden style.

We went to Lowe’s and bought the wood, and had them cut the sizes we needed which will save us some time.  I am trying to start some plants from seeds but I am not sure all will be ready to go outdoors anytime soon. So, I will buy starter plants and leave the seedlings for later planting. My friend Maxine said she is growing spinach in a window box and starting them from seed. She is having a lot of success and said it is healthier and easier than growing lettuce. I will post our progress and hope for some sunshine soon!
