BIRTHING OF A GUARDIAN…

Saturday, June 27th, 2009 | Author: carol

Guardian has been waiting for me to decide on her head and hair for a few weeks. Deciding on a fabric or polymer head took the longest time, I knew she would come through with letting me know how she wanted to look. I see her as calming, almost peaceful allowing me to step it down a notch and breath.  I have been wond tight as a drum these past months, I even came down with the Shingles from my immune system being at it’s lowest to feeling stressed. I took this time to focus, and working on the guardian calmed me right down and I began to think of what really matters, ME, and those I love, my health and my family are all I need, everything else can be replaced.

At first, after making the fabric face I used purple yarn and gave her a full head of hair. I looked at her for a few days and said no, this is not how you should look, and then it came to me, to make her a crown  depicting the sun but the color had to be lavender, my favorite flower and fragrance.  It came together really easy, I was surprised but happy with the look. I plan to put a silver rim around her face and I may decorate the crown with some beads. Next the staff, I have several sticks that I can choose from, they will carry the messages from the guardian reminding me of life’s real meanings.  I do need to give her a name, I hope  one comes through soon.

VEGETABLE GARDEN STARTED…

Thursday, June 11th, 2009 | Author: carol

Finally, the weather cleared enough to have John build the planter box so I could plant the vegetables that I’ve had sitting on my porch for a month.  If they take, it will be a mini miracle. I ‘ve had to cover them up during the night while on the porch, water them and hope the cats didn’t find them appetizing enough to nibble on.  I can tell you this much, after having spent a month battling bronchitis and pneumonia, planting those plants left me exhausted! but it was worth it.  A few of the smaller plants wilted a little but after a light rain they all perked up. What I planted was:  cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, red cabbage, arugula, peppers, cherry tomatoes and big boy tomatoes. In the next box I will have red onions and herbs.

This weekend should be a good time to finish planting, then all I need to do is clean up the rest of the wheel for next year.

There is a lot of finishing up of things that need to get done, such as painting and completing the porch. but I remain hopeful!
